An Efficient Resource Allocation Strategy to Reduce Inter-Cell Interference for Multi-Carrier Mobile Communication Systems

Inter-Cell Interference is an important factor that effects the system performance predominantly in multi-cell scenario of the future mobile communication systems. Future (4G/5G) systems are designed to provide very high data rates to all types of services (voice, data, and video) and to meet the promised Quality of services (QoS) to the users. Conventional schemes have approached this problem focusing mainly on resources within a cell and ignoring the effects of multi-cell architecture. This paper address the effect of inter-cell interference in a multi-cell scenario of multi-carrier based mobile communication systems and propose a novel approach to control it. A scheme called Modified Load Matrix is developed and implemented under 4G scenarios. Simulation results show that using Modified Load Matrix (MLM) the performance has improved significantly compared to the other benchmark schedulers used.
